Tinwood Winery, Halnaker

On the edge of the South Downs National Park, Tinwood Winery has a swanky tasting room where you can sip on sparkling wine while gazing over the vines (after a tour of the vineyard of course).

Goodwood Home Farm Shop & Cafe

Set at the heart of the 12,000-acre Sussex estate, Goodwood Home Farm is the largest lowland organic farm in Britain and was the first farm to have a totally organically fed dairy herd. The farm shop sells estate game, organic beef, lamb, pork and dairy, including Goodwood cheese, and craft beers.

Langham Brewery, Lodsworth

Langham Brewery is an award-winning independent brewery producing cask-conditioned real ales. For craft ale lovers, who want to know more about it, a guided tour of the 10-barrel steam-powered brewery is a real treat. Shop and taproom serving the full range of beers and pizzas too.

Cowdray Farm Shop & Cafe, Midhurst

Cowdray Farm Shop and Café is the hub of the 16,500-acre Cowdray Estate set on the edge of the South Downs. The shop is famous for its holistically reared lamb, beef and venison and sale of local produce. The café’s outstanding food – from lunch to afternoon tea - is all homemade using traditional artisan techniques.

Upperton Vineyard, Tillington

This family run vineyard is dedicated to making magnificent English sparkling wine, using traditional methods. Enjoy a tour and be treated to spectacular views of the South Downs from the vineyard’s viewing platform while sampling some of the finest British sparkling wine.

The Forge Shop & Cafe, Slindon

The redundant forge building in pretty Slindon village has been restored and provides a community shop selling local produce. The café serves their own blend of coffee, cakes and light meals - including legendary sausage rolls, home-made soup and delicious baked ham. The perfect pit stop for walkers and cyclists from the nearby South Downs.

The Brewhouse Project is an independent, family run bar and cafe, and the taproom for Arundel Brewery, one of the highest rated breweries on the South Coast. It's a welcoming outpost for craft beer, coffee and delicious food for brunch and lunch - street food pop-ups, live music and DJ events too.

Artisan Bakehouse, Steyning

Run by owners who are passionate about real artisan bread, the Bakehouse beside the 16th-century farmhouse offers informal, relaxed and informative bread-making workshops for beginners and regular bread makers. Using a traditional wood-burning oven you can have a truly hands on experience making various breads from around the world.

Charlie's Farm Shop, Bury

A 'real' farm shop on a working farm run by Charlie Hughes, who takes great pride in the milk and meat that he produces on Southview Farm. The butchery sells beef, milk fed pork and rose veal, all reared on the farm, together with locally sourced lamb, pork, poultry and game. Beers, wines, fruit and vegetables, cheeses and cakes are supplied by local artisan producers.

Bolney Wine Estate

Sussex wine making pioneers Janet & Rodney Pratt have been making wine on their estate near Haywards Heath for 50 years in 2022. Raise a glass and sample their award-winning wines on one of the exclusive tours and dining experiences. Enjoy locally sourced food on the balcony (views across vines) at the Eighteen Acre Cafe. They make Bolney Gin too.

Plaw Hatch Farm Shop, Sharpthorne

A 500-acre biodynamic mixed farm on the edge of the Ashdown Forest. The farm shop sells milk, cream, cheese & yoghurt produced from the dairy herd; farm and locally reared beef, lamb and pork (all either biodynamic or organic); and seasonal vegetables and salads from the 12-acre garden. Coffee and cake from Nik's horse box in the coffee barn.

West Dean Stores & Tea Room

Part of the West Dean Estate, close to the Monarch's Way and Centurion Cycle Path, the village stores and tea room provide a community hub and welcomes visitors to the village. The shop stocks a good range of local produce, including Rookery Farm eggs and bread from Sodt Bakery in Petworth. Worth seeking out for a delicious cream tea.

East Beach Cafe, Littlehampton

Modern cafe set in an iconic building resembling a piece of driftwood and located right on the beach with spectacular sea views. Arrive early to bag a table on the beachfront decking to enjoy creative seafood dishes in the sun.

Wiston Estate, Washington

Home to Wiston Estate Winery and Chalk Restaurant, Wiston produces some of the best sparkling wine in Sussex. Book a tour, learn about the wine production and taste the award-winning wines, or join one of the Landscape and Nature tours across the wider estate, then enjoy seasonal dishes (using walled garden produce) in the beautiful setting of a refurbished barn.

Hungry Guest Artisan Food Shop, Petworth

On the Antiques Trail around Petworth, then don't miss this fabulous food shop in Middle Street. Shelves brim with artisan breads and pastries made daily in the bakery and the jams, chutneys, sauces, dips and ready meals are prepared in the kitchen. The cheese room showcases Sussex cheeses. They also have a butchers, fishmonger and cafe (Newlands House Gallery) in the town.

Gwyn's Bakery, Horsham

For quality sourdough and rye breads, delicious croissants, fruit Danish pastries and hugely popular cinnamon buns, seek out this artisan bakery on Bishopric in Horsham. Owner and head baker Ben Lines, who spent 10 years working in Michelin-starred kitchens, opened the bakery in November 2020 and hasn't looked back. Great coffee from Horsham Coffee Roasters too.

Chalk Express, Wiston Estate

Food-to-go trailer with coffees, teas and soft drinks for takeaway, as well as a decent selection of toasted sandwiches and pastries. Just by the Chalk car park, just off the South Downs Way, so you can swing by on your walk or bike ride around the South Downs.
