Cross windswept Dartmoor to finish at a fabulous Devon coastal retreat.

Day 1
A30 from Exeter, skirt northern Dartmoor via Castle Drogo (NT); woodland strolls to stretch the legs in the Teign Valley at Drewsteignton; or detour towards Tavistock to visit the impressive Lydford Gorge. Once in Cornwall, take in pretty Boscastle (village & harbour) and the dramatic coastline at Tintagel (castle & coast path walks). STAY – Port Gaverne, Port Isaac (from £150).
Day 2
Camel Valley Vineyard (Tours), then south to Lanhrydrock (NT) and Fowey (walk to Gribbin Head); or visit the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Follow coast lanes via Portloe to St Mawes and St Just-in-Roseland (church); then King Harry’s Ferry to Trelissick Garden (NT). STAY – Old Coastguard, Mousehole (from £155)
Day 3
Tour of The Lizard via St Michael’s Mount or Godolphin House (NT), taking in the charming fishing villages of Portheven, Mullion and Cadgwith. Don’t miss the coves at Gunwalloe, Kynance and Church Cove (swimming), and the riverside village of Helford (scenic walks). STAY – Old Coastguard, Mousehole (from £155).
Day 4
Tour the wild Penwith Peninsula; beaches at Porthcurno, Porthgwarra and St Ives; visit Minack Open Air Theatre (stunning cliff-top location), the Telegraph Museum, Levant Mine & Beam Engine (tin industry); fantastic coast drive to St Ives (shops & galleries). Coast walk: Gurnards Head to Zennor. STAY – Gurnard’s Head, Treen (from £135).
Day 5
Skirt Newquay and enjoy the beautiful drive north to Padstow; magnificent beaches at Watergate Bay, Bedruthan Steps, Treyarnon and Constantine Bays. Foodie Padstow for charming harbour and estuary walks; then round to Rock and fine beaches at Polzeath to reach Port Isaac. STAY – Port Gaverne, Port Isaac (from £150).
Day 6
Stunning Cotehele House (NT) and Morwellham Quay (living museum) beside the Tamar, continue to Tavistock, then cross rugged Dartmoor (views) to Buckfastleigh (Abbey) and Totnes (castle; independent shops; Sharpham Vineyard). STAY – Cary Arms & Spa, Babbacombe Beach, Torquay (from £269).
