The two inns
This mellow Cotswold stone building was revamped in 2017 with 13
stylish bedrooms and a conservatory dining room added.
The Lion at Wendlebury retains its 18th century charm,
boasting modern features and comfortable, luxurious rooms as well
as a delicious modern-meets-classic menu. In the traditional bar,
expect rugs on flagged floors, hop garlands adorning thick beams,
rustic stone walls and inglenook fireplaces, alongside an eclectic
mix of tables and chairs, books and unusual objet d'art on shelves
and walls. Soft heritage colours, tasteful pictures and jugs of
fresh flowers complete this bucolic scene.
A hip hotel meets gastropub concept has breathed new life into
Swan, an impressively reincarnated 14th-century inn,
which rose out of ashes like a phoenix following a disastrous fire.
It provides all the charm of the country with modern, chic
Manhattan-style rooms and suites, all of which are superbly
appointed. Downstairs, there's a rustic-meets-contemporary bar area
with wooden floor, chunky scrubbed tables and chairs, leather sofas
and easy chairs fronting a blazing winter log fire, old village
photos and modern prints, and a long, sleek bar lined with gleaming
